The Company started as Wilson Electrical Business Services in 1927. It was re-christened as Sterling and Wilson in 1973 with Shapoorji Group taking a 51% stake in the Company. In 2005, the Company became an MEP solutions provider both in the domestic and international markets. Today, Sterling and Wilson is one of the few players in India offering 360° MEP solutions.
The Company enjoys a significant share of the domestic MEP market, and plans to enter new international territories like SAARC and West African regions. This division of the Company plays a pivotal role in the project execution of other service divisions and, therefore, lies at the heart of the organisation’s operations. The MEP division’s activities span the entire value chain: proposal engineering, design, project management and planning, procurement, quality assurance and on-time delivery of a superior quality project.
The Company has been a key participant in some of the biggest projects across sectors such as commercial complexes, it parks, hospitals, airports, hotels, malls, multiplexes and industrial installations.

In 2015, Sterling and Wilson ventured into the Industrial Engineering Procurement and Construction (IEPC) space to exploit the ever-growing market opportunities and leverage the Company's internal strength in MEP and EPC. Over the last few years, the Company has developed a significant level of capabilities in multi-disciplinary engineering, design, procurement and construction projects.
Today, the Company is a one-stop solutions provider in the IEPC segment offering customised solutions to its clients. The IEPC business division comprises four sub-divisions namely - Process Control & Instrumentation (PCI), Industrial Fire & Safety (IFS), Mechanical EPC (MEPC), and Flue-gas Desulphurisation (FGD). The Company caters to a large section of industrial projects in hydrocarbons, gas processing plants, mines, nuclear power plants, defence, fertilisers, power and steel plants etc.
The Company is certified by all renowned PMC and EPC contractors in India; has executed projects of various capacities including site assistance, solutions customisation, management, engineering, process design etc., across industries in India; and have plans to widen the operations abroad.
