Construction has been a major economy driver in the Middle East since 1970’s and continues to be so, with economies like Dubai / UAE and Qatar building itself to be the trade & travel hubs, and with economies like KSA & Abu Dhabi/UAE building itself to be the cities/states with a  futuristic infrastructure.  MEP remains to be a big play using latest technologies in Cooling, Energy Management for comfort against the extreme weather and Green compliance.

The African geography has been termed as a dark continent in the past, and is clearly the most under-developed geography in terms of basic infrastructure.  In the recent years, certain geo’s have acquired new wealth in terms of Natural resources including Oil & Gas, Metals & Minerals and many African nations has initiated investments in basic infrastructure of Energy generation, transmission, distribution, and infrastructure including schools, transportation networks, water supply etc

Sterling and Wilson over the past many years has completed multiple MEP & Electrification projects in Africa from its Indian base including the Presidential Seat in Accra Ghana, the Cricket stadium during the recent Cricket World Cup in Guyana West Indies, Convention Center and IT Park in Mauritius.

Continuing on this expansion initiative, SWI has recently completed its setting up the International Corporate office at Dubai and bringing on board highly experienced professionals in MEP and EPC business. The current team is 70 strong including Business Development, Tendering, Project Execution, Engineering, and support services of Finance, HR & Procurement.

With clear intent to grow in the strategic markets, operational teams and offices have been set up in Qatar & Abu Dhabi in the first phase. The Middle-East plans include setting up of operations in KSA, the largest economy of the ME & in Kuwait, the re-emerging economy post Iraq.

Investments have been made for an entry into the Sub-Saharan and French speaking Africa.  SWI has an added advantage in Africa as the challenges there are quite similar to rural India, in terms of lack of basic infrastructure, qualified work-force and harsh weather.  The Indian experience of building rural infrastructure will be key in the Africa initiative.

SWI targets a significant order book from the international market in the next 3-5 years to build itself for sustainable growth and profitability, leveraging its guiding principles of Quality Delivery, Predictable Performance & Customer Satisfaction.
