Coal India Limited (CIL) is an Indian state-controlled coal mining company headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal India. It is the largest coal producer company in the world and contributes around 82% of the coal production in India. It produced 494.24 million tonnes of coal during FY 2014-15 and earned revenue of INR 954.35 billion from sale of coal in the same financial year. As on 14 October 2015, Union Government of India owns 79.65% of the shares in CIL and controls the operations of CIL through Ministry of Coal. In April 2011, CIL was conferred the Maharatna status by the Union Government of India. As on 14 October 2015, its market capitalization was INR 2.11 trillion (US $32.59 billion) making it India’s 8th most valuable company by market value.
Sterling and Wilson was awarded the contract for supply, installation, testing and commissioning of fire detection and alarm system along with IT networking and voice evacuation system for the entire campus of Coal Bhawan, New Town. The detailed scope includes detectors, μP based analog addressable fire alarm panel with necessary cabling complete in all respect. The IT networking part includes the CAT 6 cabling with all accessories like duplex/quad faceplates, mounting cords, UTP cables, earthing etc. The voice backbone and the gateways were also brought to function by Sterling and Wilson which has a 600 extension EPBAX system and associated handsets. We have also supplied and installed 19″ 45U racks with all fixtures complete with vertical cable managers, ladder sets, power sockets etc. This project was completed well within given timeline and up to mark with the expectation of the customer.
